چکیده
Abstract This paper provides an analysis of the notational difference between Beta Existential Graphs, graphical notation for quantificational logic invented by Charles S. Peirce at end 19th century, and ordinary first-order logic. thought his graphs to be “more diagrammatic” than equivalently expressive languages (including own algebras) The reason this, he claimed, is that less room afforded in Graphs different ways representing same fact. turn, are a non-linear , occurrence-referential notation. As notation, each graph corresponds class logically equivalent but syntactically distinct sentences obtained permuting those elements (sentential variables, predicate expressions, quantifiers) lie area. which identity reference two or more variables asserted. In brief, Peirce’s diagrammatic linear, type-referential because function translates latter does not define isomorphism notations.

Our paper concerns issues to do with the emergence of some of the most fundamental ideas in Peirce’s diagrammatic logic, many of them still unpublished. How did he gravitate at the diagrammatic approach to logic? It is best to frame this question by asking more precisely: How did he arrive at the full-fledged diagrammatic quantification, the theory that corresponds – or has been claimed to corr...

We prove an existential version of Gaifman’s locality theorem and show how it can be applied algorithmically to evaluate existential first-order sentences in finite structures.
متن کاملAn Analysis of Existential Therapy from a Counseling Perspective
Existential theory is derived from the existential philosophy movement of the nineteenth century. There were several individuals instrumental in the development of existential therapy including Bugental, Frankl, May, and Yalom. It is not a concise theory but is a loose collection of theories centering on the meaning or purpose of life. However it is applicable to counseling because of its focus...
